CHRISTMAS ROCKED!

So this winter break has been amazing so far! Last week was really great and full of fun! Monday I went Christmas shopping with my dad. Tuesday I made a slideshow for an upcoming youth event. Wednesday I went to church. Thursday was Christmas!

So this Christmas was really great. I woke up in the morning and dug things out of my stocking. The things I got from it were all great like an itunes gift card, a starbucks gift card, candy, pens, a 4GB drive, and mint chocolate! After stockings I sat down with my family and ate an incredible breakfast. After that we opened presents! I think it was more fun to watch people open the presents I got them than to open my own presents but thats just me. My Grandparents came over after presents and later that day we had a huge turkey dinner.

So Christmas was awesome but its over now and I'm looking forward to other things.

I'll have to post about my trip to Julian on Friday, thats next.

Review: Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
This whole trilogy is amazing! Last week I watched Fellowship because traditionally in December I watch Lord of the Rings because it originally was in theaters in December. This movie was an awesome beginning to an incredible trilogy. I can remember being 10 years old in the theaters and walking out with the impression that this was the best movie I had ever seen! After that I had to see the second one, and the third one. I loved them all but it was Fellowship that got me into the trilogy. I hope I get a chance to re-watch Two Towers and Return of the king so I can post my initial thoughts on those ones!

December/Winter/Christmas

Winter is my favorite time of year for many reasons. I love the rain that comes this time of year and I am sure that if I lived in a place where it snowed I would love that as well. I love the cold in which we all bundle up to keep warm. I love the winter styles, they are so cozy feeling! I love the hot chocolate which I sip by the fire! I love that my birthday is near the end of it! And most importantly I love Christmas and the feelings of love and joy which take over the entire air of the world during this cold time. Christmas is truly the season of love, and I can carry those feelings exponentially throughout the year through Jesus Christ my Savior. He provides love and joy and peace greater than anything found in the seasons. So in this time of joy I reflect on what Jesus brought with him when he was born 2000 years ago!

So this Christmas season has begun amazingly well. Me and my friend Hillary Millen hosted our second annual gingerbread party, which I wish I had pictures from but in a whirlwind of events someone didn't bring my camera. Its no one fault it just happened. Anyway the party was incredible with a lot of creativity poured into the creations. I was going to make one but I got bored with it and it just wasn't turning out right so I gave it to my little sister to finish then I let a few other kids eat it and tear it apart. Anyways I am sure that our party was much more fun than my schools winter formal.

Finals have come and gone and as I wonder what my grades are I have put the worry aside as realized that since God is in charge I don't have to worry about it. Now that finals are over there is sure to be fun from here on out. Christmas is in a week! I have 1 week to do christmas shopping for six people! I don't know what any of the want either. I think I'll go this evening.

1st Acceptance!

Well I got accepted into Azusa Pacific University!!! It was the first application I sent in though not the first choice of school for me to go to. I want to go to Point Loma but that all depends on my ACT score in a week and a half! I'm praying everything goes all right! God is incredible and he hears every one of our prayers! I have to sleep now!

Matthew 5

3: Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4: Blessed are they that mourn for they shall be comforted
5: Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth
6: Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled
7: Blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy

9: Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God
10: Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven
11: Blessed are ye when men shall revile you and persecute you and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely for my sake.
12: Rejoice annd be exceedingly glad for great is your reward in heaven: For so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

Photos, Article, Writing Update, Fun.

This Tuesday I had the privilege of going to the globe theater with my AP english class for free! We saw a play called "The Women" which was a rather silly play which didn't seem to have a worthwhile point. Overall out of a large cast I only liked two charaters! It really wasn't the play which made the outing fun, it was long and I was tried of it at the end, It was being with my best friends that was fun. Me and my friend Katerina got to talk about college and things we plan on doing with our lives after high school. We've going to be going separate ways yet we still plan to remain best friends always and forever!

Me and Katerina had a good time after the play of taking a few photos of anything random we saw. We took pictures by the lightpost featured on the left. The shirt I was wearing is my first bright yellow shirt since I was little! I kept saying that I felt like a ray of sunshine in it! Katerina just laughed at me, I'm so random. It was also really hot outside the theater so it was a good thing I didn't wear something black or sun attractive!

I didn't eat anything before the play or during the play, as food was not allowed in the theater. I was very excited when we were on our way back to school and my English teacher held up a bag full of small snaks!

Some of my other friends attended the play as well. They all got mad at me for taking photos of them... This has happened to me all through school as the yearbooks photographer. Instead to continuing to take candid photos of them I decided to have some of them pose for me. I got a small group of friends together to do this photo Amy, Kylena, Melissa, and Katerina!

Melissa help up the River Valley sign for all of us to know where our group was. Us River Valley students were the coolest people at the play! No doubt we are the nicest students on earth!

Finally here is a photo of me and Katerina! We took quite a few photos with each other but this one was my favorite!

FURTHUR REASONS FOR ME TO POST:

Recently my dad posted this article on his blog: http://www.ornery.org/essays/warwatch/2008-10-05-1.html. I really really enjoyed this! After reading so many boring articles which only cause my head to spin and my mind to wander it was refresing to find a really good writer who also speaks the truth unbiasedly! I encourage anyone who reads this blog to take a look at the article as it truly is amazing!

Last week I started mapping out my story objectively. It took me awhile and I was able to outline the first two books and half of the second one. Now that I have the basic journey of each charater down I look foraward to starting work on the story. I am not sure when I will start it I just know that I plan to sometime soon.

The story now centers around 4 charaters; A young man named Gavalen, a bakers daughter named Adrinera, A young solider named Dearn, and a mysterious rebel named Fyrie. The basic story is that their land was taken over by an evil king 18 years before. Now they live under his tyranical rule and through many events their lives are thrown together and together they must solve the mysteries that will save more that just their country. They join with anchient heros and anchient outcasts in their quest. They face many trials but in the end they all realize their strengths.

I have always hated the belief that a hero must have certain flaws to make him human so my heros may not exactly be human. I want to ceate charaters that people can truely love, not charaters that people get annoyed with by the time the reach the middle of the story. Pretty high vision right? And if this ends up taking more than one book I do not plan on going past 3 books. I plan on hopefully writing other stories if this one goes well! Just writing about it is making me want to go write it but alas I still have Physics homework.

REVIEW: A short while back I read a great book! It was called "Hood" by Steven Lawhead and it was a very good retelling of Robin Hood. The setting is in whales during the norman invasion and Robin Hood is actually a Celtic Prince named Bran whose land has been unjustly taken by a cruel normal Lord. Bran is portrayed as a more selfish charater after his land is taken over; he is more concerned about his life and decides to flee to his mothers people in the north. After a accident he meets an old woman who nurses him back to heath over the course of a year and teaches him about doing the good things he can do and helping those in need. Thus beings the story of Rhi Bran Hud whom we know as Robin Hood who robs from the evil rich normans to make sure his people survive while he plans to regain his lands through any means possible. Overall it was a great read; the imagery was really beautiful. The whole story was more mythilogical and reminded me of Tolkien, though nothing will ever truely match Tolkien. It is a book which I heartily recommend to anyone who wants an enjoyale read!

Home For Christmas

Awhile ago I posted about BarlowGirl's Christmas album! Everytime a BarlowGirl album comes out I get excited, and when I found out that they recorded some of my favorite Christmas songs of course I was excited. I am pleased to say that I have now heard it though I do not own it. Here is a song by song breakdown of what I think about it;

1. It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year 5/5 - I have always thought that this Christmas song summed up the season perfectly! I really like BarlowGirl's version as well. It has an old classic feel and Alyssa Barlow's voice suits the song perfectly. Overall a great tune that I hope to be listening to this holiday season.

2. Carol of the Bells/ Sing We Now of Christmas 6/5 - I think that this is one of my favorites on the album! It startes without music just Alyssa's voice which sounds just breautiful. It then adds music as the song goes till it comes to the climax where the music slows more for the addition of "Sing We Now of Christmas." Overall its one of the most beautiful arrangements of the song I have ever heard.

3. I'll Be Home For Christmas 3/5 - I've always loved "I'll Be Home For Christmas" as a song, it has such a Christmas spirit attacted to it. I don't think that this is the best version of the song though. I think the arrangement is the problem. Its predictable and It has some annoying trumpets in it, they just seem out of place. It could be that i've never been a huge fan of Lauren Barlow's voice; its great on rock songs its just that Alyssa does slow song so so much better. Overall its a great tune just I like oher versions of the song better. (Jaci Velasquez has a REALLY good version).

4. Hallelujah (Light Has Come) 6/5 - The only original song on the album. Alyssa sings this one to my relief. It is a slow song which I think will become a Christmas classic. Definatly my favorite on the whole album; you just have to hear it to understand.

5. O Little Town Of Bethlehem 4/5 - Another one which Lauren sings but this time the arrangement fits her voice better! Its a more upbeat version than any that I own. It has a very joyful feel as well which I think adds to it!

6. What Child Is This? 3/5 - Everyone sees this as a big deal in the BarlowGirl world because it is the first song in which Becca Barlow has sang all the lead vocals. Her voice reminds me of Amy Grant; its more like Laruen's than Alyssa's. That is not really the problem with this song, though I am not sure how I feel about how she sounds, the problem with this song is the jazzy arrangement. I am not a big Jazz fan and it seems like they over jazzed it. I might enjoy this one when christmas comes around but I don't know. I have heard better versions of the song.

7. Panis Angelicus 5/5 - This song is amazing! Alyssa shows off the impressive range of her voice which she had once hoped would carry her to broadway. It is a really amazing song! Great vocals! Great Arrangement! It is a string bassed arrangement which is totally the type of thing I go for. It also has some embellishment from some lovely harps. Definatly a favorite.

8. Angelic Proclamation 5/5 - I don't think I've given one low score to an Alyssa song. This one is a compliation song which contaions "Hark the Hearld Angels Sing," and "O Come All Ye Faithful." needless to say those are some of my most favorite Christmas songs! I posted earlier about "Hark the Hearld Angels Sing." These are two songs that capture the Christmas spirit and are beautifully worshipful. I will be listening to this song! I WILL! If I ever buy the album.

9. Go Tell it On The Mountain 3/5 - I have never been a big fan of this song. I don't know why; maybe it was just because the song just seemed to bouncy. I do like this arrangemnet much better than any other I have ever heard but the trumpets and the chorus are just to much for it to ever be a favorite. It also has "Joyful Joyful We Adore Thee" in the mix of the song. That part of the song is beautiful yet the chorus and the trumpets are still there.

10. O Come, O Come, Emmanuel 5/5 - I have heard legendary versions of this song. Jaci Velasquez did a huantingly beautiful version of the song and Bethany Dillon did a folksy beautiful version of it. I was excited about BarlowGirl doing this song and I think they did well. Laruen sings it which an amazingly beautiful string and piano arrangement. Considering how hard I have been on the songs Lauren sings I was shocked to really like this one. Overall the arrangement might have been better suited to Alyssa but it still won me over.

11. Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas 6/5 - A great album closer. The arrangemnt is fresh and simply beautiful. Alyssas voice shines on it. I think that it is the perfect ending!

Overall 4/5 stars on the album. There were a few shaky arrangements but it is still going to be one of my favorite Christmas albums in the years to come! I hope to buy a copy soon or get one for Christmas or something, I jsut have to find a way to enjoy it when Christmas rolls around!

So thats what I've been up to, Photos and editing. I've also done a little planning for my story. Now I have a map of the place and a map of the main journey of each charater! Its all looking really cool and I jus thope nothing gets cliche or predictable!

Randomly Convinced of Boredom!

I am in yearbook class right now... The first few weeks of yearbook class are always training classes but since I have to show up to class I am stuck here anyway! I just made a beautiful layout yet I do not think that it was worth it. I found old photos on my z-drive which I placed in the layout yet I am still annoyed with being here!

In other news my day consisted of Mathematical equations, English substitutes, Odd Science (or should I say math...), and Government styled aptitude tests.

Today my Government teacher put us on websites where we chose our stance on different issues. The sites then took our answers and matched us up with the presidential candidates. Shockingly (sarcasm intended) I agreed with Mccain.

Talk later

Mathematical Enjoyment

I am in the midst of stacks of done and undone homework and right now I am finding that I lactually like my math homework better than anything else. For I find that I can actually do my Math homework without pulling my hair out in anger for the ridiculousness of it all. My calculus is for some reason enjoyable. Msot of my life I have hated math but now I am seeing that math is the simplest of subjects. What can be easier than solving number equations? Its definatly easier that understanding someone elses interpretation of a poem! And its more intresting that watching a dull Presidential debate!

Well thats my rant for today! Octobers tomorrow!

The Snow Man

One must have a mind of winter
To regard the frost and the boughs
Of the pine-trees crusted with snow;

And have been cold a long time
To behold the junipers shagged with ice,
The spruces rough in the distant glitter

Of the January sun; and not to think
Of any misery in the sound of the wind,
In the cound of a few leaves,

Which is the cound of the land
Full of the same wind
That is blowing in the same bare place

For the listener, who listens in the snow,
And, nothing himself, beholds
Nothing that is not there and the nothing that is.

-Wallace Stevens (1879-1955)

-This is a lovely poem which I am now analyzing for english class. Since I have posted about my love of evening and rain I though that my love of winter would make a great post. I feel that winter is by far the greatest season. It is full of peace and the air is nice and cool. I can't wait until the heat of summer is finally behind us!

Hark the Hearld Angels Sing

Hark the herald angels sing
"Glory to the newborn King!
Peace on earth and mercy mild
God and sinners reconciled"
Joyful, all ye nations rise
Join the triumph of the skies
With the angelic host proclaim:
"Christ is born in Bethlehem"
Hark! The herald angels sing
"Glory to the newborn King!"

Christ by highest heav'n adored
Christ the everlasting Lord!
Late in time behold Him come
Offspring of a Virgin's womb
Veiled in flesh the Godhead see
Hail the incarnate Deity
Pleased as man with man to dwell
Jesus, our Emmanuel
Hark! The herald angels sing
"Glory to the newborn King!"

Hail the heav'n-born Prince of Peace!
Hail the Son of Righteousness!
Light and life to all He brings
Ris'n with healing in His wings
Mild He lays His glory by
Born that man no more may die
Born to raise the sons of earth
Born to give them second birth
Hark! The herald angels sing
"Glory to the newborn King!"

-Yesterday I was listening to clips of BarlowGirl's Christmas album (coming September 23rd) on itunes and their song "Angelic Proclamation (Medley)" suprised me. It seems like a mix of different songs and the one I heard was "Hark the Hearld Angels Sing." When I was little this was one of my least favorite christmas songs as I didn't really like many songs that were not in minor keys or were made up of piano arrangements. Needless to say I had never really appreciated the beauty of "Hark the Hearld Angels Sing" until I realized yesterday that it was one of my favorite christmas songs! It captures the spirit of Christmas perfectly!

It may seem odd that I am speaking of Christmas in September but I can not wait until December! This Christmas album may make the Christmas season come four months early for me!

Evening

Evening is the sharp breath of wind breaking through tree.
Evening is the bright dawn of peace bringing life to the earth
Evening is the closing of books at the end of their stories
Evening is the cold rainfall pouring relief to open wounds
Evening is the slow shutting of even open door
Evening is the still lake beneath the veil of dark skies

This is a poetry exercise that I did in English class. I really enjoyed writing this but it was harder than I expected. I really worked hard to find metaphors that describe what evening is to me. My favorite time of day is the evening just after the sunset, where there are still a few rays of sun shining over the hills behind our house. At this time everything seems so peaceful and wonderful. I just feel like evening is a time of renewing right before the new day. Some people are saddened by the ending of each day but I see it as the promise that a new day is on its way.

Rumors

I personal do not think i know enough about many of the issues being discussed in politics today to say anything on them but I do want to address a big topic in these elections.

It really amazes me how many rumors are getting credibility in this political race. Just last week I passed the tabloids in VONS and saw headlines like "Sarah Palin's Big Lies" and "The Real Truth about Sarah Palin's Son." I think the only positive political tabloids were the ones talking about what its like for Obama to have two amazing daughters! Seriously! How leftist is the media today? They have so far framed Sarah Palin as a liar, a polar bear hater, and a bad mother. Why is it they question the fact that she has five children and is running for office? Well how is Obama going to be a good father to his two daughters while trying to be president? The Rumor magazines should just stay out of politics and stick to stalking celebrities who won't be running our country.

Today I had researched McCain for my History class. I was very happy about this because his website was so much easier than Obama's. On that website I got a more clear understanding about what McCain wants to do to reform American where on the other hand Obama's site was a little to uninformative and hard to understand, he should do a better job on it if he really wants people to understand what he's saying. Who knows there could be some nut voting based on website navigatableness if thats even a word!

Climb Every Mountain!

CLIMB EVERY MOUNTAIN! FORD EVERY STREAM! FOLLOW EVERY RAINBOW! TILL YOU FIND YOUR DREAM!

Well these photos come from Mount Woodson in Ramona where a group of kids from my church Youth group decided to climb a few times before the end of summer. I enjoyed my time up there with my Canon Rebel! It was fun taking snapshots of the beautiful scenery and of the wonderful people I was with.

The first hike we went on I found out quickly that I was out of shape. I was unable to keep the pace of everyone else so I missed getting photos before the sunset. So for the next few hikes I worked on my speed by starting a little before everyone. This worked to my advantage because I was able to arrive at the top just before everyone else. Some of the shots I got are just breathtaking and I hope you all enjoy this beautiful mountain view!

The sky was so perfectly blue and all the clouds around just added to the beauty and quality of pictures I was able to take

Lovely! I don't see how anyone wouldn't enjoy seeing all this beauty! The climb is totally worth it all, especially to an amature photographer like me! This was the perfect way to add to my growing collection of great shots! I have also learned how to bring out the best in my shots using Aperture, the best photo editing program ever. I have learned how to balance colors in photos, how to retouch photos, and how to bring out different aspects of photos. So far all my tinkering around in the program has paid off and I am able to edit photos to amazing heights!

The layers of mountains were so inspiring to me that I almost wrote a scene in my book based on them. I think i might in the future!

The world seems so much more simple from such high heights. You can see so many other mountains in San Diego from there. I think from one angle you could even see the ocean! This is the reason I went up the mountain three times within two weeks. I am planning on going back again as well!

At one point a group went down a side area of the top of the mountain to climb a couple of perfectly wonderful rocks! I did not bring my zoom lens on that climb sadly but I still got a few distance shots of them! One of the greatest things about this mountain was its abundance of rocks! There were many fun places to sit and to climb!

There was an absolutely perfect sunset that I was very amazed to see. unfortunatly I couldn't capture it with my camera in its perfection because it was to beautiful to describe with words!

This is what made it all worth it!

This is the wonderful path I watched from a rock. I waited for late comers to arrive on the mountain from this view. It was amazing that I actually climbed a rock! All my life I have been afraid of rocks for some reason. When I was really young I cried everytime someone tried to get me on a rock that I though didn't look safe. It seems now that I am slowly getting over that!

Here is the common group! We climbed this mountain multiple times! This is the last time I went up! Like I said earlier I plan on going back! Winter time skies are beautiful!

SMILES! Since I was taking all the pictures there are none of me with everyone else but I did get one of just me! I tried to get the background but it didn't work and the wind blew my bangs around!

Poetic Exercises, Politics, and School Fun!

Lately school has been a big thing in my life as it is my last year and I want to do well! In history class I was assigned the task of researching the two presidential candidates Obama and McCain. The job was to research one and then do the other next Wednesday. I chose to do Obama fist. The research was to be conducted only on the candidates website so I got to read what Obama supporters think about Obama. It was an interesting task considering that the website was very poorly designed and hard to navigate on the schools horrible PC's.

I learned that Obama things that Faith is important and that he plans to reform things. The problem is I couldn't quite understand how he was going to change things. Maybe its because I was absolutely bored to tears and the site didn't say much of anything worth saying. Better luck on McCain's wesite? I hope! I don't want to bore myself to death when researching the candidate I actually like.

I watched Sarah Palin's speech last night and was very impressed, I think she was the best choice! Her swipes at Obama were funny, her joke about hockey moms was great, and the rest of her speech was very well delivered. Great going for her, if you didn't see it Itunes is offering free downloads of all the political speeches at the conventions, so go there and download it.

In English class yesterday my teacher assigned us the task of writing a poem in a very specific style. The end result was more like a sentence than a poem but it was such an easy assignment that I quite enjoyed it. Here's my poem:

THE SILVER KEYBOARD

So much depends
upon

The silver
keyboard

Cluttered with music
sheets

beside the empty guitar
stand

Interesting huh? I was just glad she didn't make us write something deep. She also had us turn in a paper on an old AP English prompt. She was probably expecting us to write on the books she assigned us to read over the summer but I skipped to "Persuasion" by Jane Austen which is a much better book than the whole summer reading list. I was very delighted earlier this year when I found out that all Jane Austen books were accepted on the AP Literature exam. I've read them all except "Northanger Abbey" and I understand each story better than anything else on the AP list. So I think that I was throughly prepared for the test before the summer even began and now I look forward to it.

Honors Calculus and Physics are enjoyable classes but nothing exciting ever happens in them.

I plan on hopefully doing a few photo shoots in the not to distant future. The last photos I got were at my cousins birthday party a few weeks ago so I have a lot of catching up to do.

Well I'll post some beautiful mountain pictures after this!

REVIEW!!!!

I was shocked when i saw Rachael Lampa performing at the RNC on Tuesday but I quite enjoyed her performance. It reminded me that she was still recording, though she only sang old songs. Part of the performance was obviously tracked as many instruments were playing but there was only a guitarist up on stage with her but her vocals were amazing. The CCM princess still has it in her to deliver a great performance. I look forward to see if she will make her comeback soon!

Summer Rain

I woke up this morning to be greeted by rain outside my open window. It was a welcome sight indeed after the long warm summer days. It was the beautiful summer rain this morning that reminded me of my music. I set out a little later in the day to play through a few pieces that I have been writing for a while; with this new inspiration I was able to add some beautiful technical things to my music. Rain is like inspiration pouring from heaven to me. It is a time where everything seems so at rest and a time where every little care in the world is washed away. The flowers are fed and new life springs forth.

Maybe when the winter rain comes it will pour down inspiration for my books. Just a lovely little thought.

September is arriving soon. The verse for that month according to my calender is:

"My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." - 2 Corinthians 12:9. - A lovely thought for the new month; something to meditate on. For Gods work gives the mind rest. I can just sit and think on him and I feel lighter than air; as if I could run through a storm of inspiring rain forever.

Nothing has really happend recently in the devlopment of any of my stories except a few basic structure rules I have decided to lay down about the charaters. There are so many bad ways to develop a character I decided to think of all the good ways to do one.

RULE 1: Absolutely the most important thing: No whining. When you have a whiner for a charater your destiend for trouble. Most readers want to kill the whining annoying charaters. I personally think that of charaters are having trouble with something they should keep their thoughts of discord to themselves and let the readers breathe.

RULE 2: Sterotypical "why" is a no no. It just annoys me when charaters ask "Why is this happening to me?" As if they thought they were special. There are times where the glorious "Why" is suited to the occasion but in many cases (such as in Eragon), the "Why" is just another for of whining about a situtaion.

RULE 3: You don't have to make the charaters have human flaws. The old "he's flawed and human" is just annoying. Yes people have flaws, sometimes, but when these flaws become an excuse to make a character to something incredibly stupid it just bugs the reader to death. There is nothing more annoying than someone making an absolutely stupid mistake which the writer chooses to dwell on! THIS JUST LEADS TO WHINES!

All the rules are repetative. Basically I don't want to make annoying charaters. I want my charaters to be completely honest, honorable, and upright! They most know what they are about, and what they want to accomplish. Journey's of discovery can be very good but at this time in the fiction world they are very overdone!

I have also decided to work on a more science fiction peice! The main theme is going to be about how hate destroys and forgiveness heals. Its a more short less complex story that my fantasy pieces that spin me in circles and it may not even turn into much but an exercise I do before writing into my other stories. I might post peices of it later but its not suppost to be great; its just an exercise.

REVIEW: Two weeks to Krystal Meyers Junior album, as reviewed some of its tracks earlier. Now the leaked album is all over youtube and the internet. Krystal Meyers website even hosted a party to listen to the full album. Now that I have had the priviledge to hear the whole album I do say that I might like this better than her other two albums. Now there has been some talk of Krystal leaving Christian music with this album; that is totally false. The album is unashamdedly Christian, which is what makes it so good. Songs like "My Freedom" "In Your Hands" "Love it Away" "SOS" "Shine" "Make Some Noise" and "You'll Never Know" are blatantly christian. Another thing Krystal has in her favor is that moving from Rock to Pop was very unexpected and I would say that she does do Pop so much better than Rock. There are also less vocal correcters working on her voice so you can hear how much better she sounds! Where previously they tried to make her sound like Avril Lavigne (what was up with that??) they decided to leave her real voice alone and it sounds so much better! Overall I really enjoyed this album! - 5/5

BEST SONG: 'SOS" - catch lyric: "Holy father make us whole, cause you alone can save our souls"

A little More Time

I think I need to mature more as a writer before I take on a book. I am doing a lot better writing random scenes to something not even realated to my wonderful land of Kantra. There are many things I have been trying to figure out with my stories. How exactly do I tell them? Switches from scenes are always choppy and my character development is vastly wanting. Well whatever I do, I am sure nothing can be as bad as the stories I use to write.

I have recently made some critical updates to my website: www.grahampictures.com. 2 more pages to make before it is completely done!!!!!

Here is something I wrote awhile ago. This is somewhere in te beginning of the Unaware, which I think i am going to return to since it is a much better developed story than "The Call"

Gavalen often wished to go over the mountains himself to join his brother Navern and fight the injustice of Hastherth, the self procalimed new king of Kantra. Gavalen knew little about King Amaser who had been removed from the throne nineteen years before but everyone he knew said that times were better when Amaser was king.
Gavalens thoughts were interupted by another prescence in the blacksmiths shop. Adrinera had entered to bring her father some water.
“Lovely day is it not,” she said to her father. Drine smiled at his daughter.
“I was beginning to think you wouldn’t come; help Gavalen organize that equipment, theres a lot of it.”
“Do I have to?” she asked, “I would much rather go off and practice my dagger throwing.”
“Yes you have to, there is more to life than dagger throwing,” he replied. She moved over to where Gavalen was and proceeded to help him.
“Have either of you haer the news?” she said keeping her eyes on her work.
“What news?” asked Gavalen.
“Soliders are arriving from over the mountains,” she said, “its been said that a whole regiment stopped in Lytie last week.”
“For what reason?” asked Gavalen.
“From what I heard they were chasing a rebel,” she said, “but it seems unlikely that was the case since they took all orphans into custody. Kaly says her father thinks the empire is trying to get new slaves to sell to their miners.” Drine looked up at the two, fear flashed in his eyes.
“Are they headed towards here?” he asked.
“Yes,” Adrinera said, “humans leading a large band of creatures from Wrivile is how Kalay described them, her cousin lives in Lytie.”
“If they are taking orphans, you could be in danger Gavalen,” Drine said, “the best thing for you to do is to become as part of this family.”
“They wouldn’t bother me, I’ll be fine,” Gavalen said.
“I am not so sure, if they need new slaves anyone they can get they will get,” Drine replied, “you could be in danger. Your brother told me to look after you and thats what I plan to do.”
“Well I could say you were my uncle,” Gavalen said, “its unlikely that any of the villagers will contradict it if they know whats going on.”
“That wouldn’t be a problem,” Adrinera spoke up, “many families are taking some the orphans to be able to sheild them from the soliders. I wonder if they’ll expect it, they are not unintelligent.”
“We’ll have to make them unintelligent,” Drine said, “Now get back to work you two enough talk.”

Well then goodday for now!

REVIEW: Wall E! I really enjoyed this movie! Despite the boring beginning and the slightly environmentalist tones to the film it was probably one of the most romantic movies I've seen all year. Which might not be saying a lot because I haven't seen any romantic movies all year. Well I though the movie was very clever, cute, and fun! Wall E was a delightable character, as were EVE and MO, the latter being my favorite charater. MO, though not a main charater at all had the coolest name and was very funny with his germaphobic behavoir. I was practically cheering when the captian walked for the first time! Overall, great film! 4/5.

She's a Flower

Well I've been busy. I've written a little, but I have been focusing on one of main characters real history. That character is Keya. I have established her true origins and what past experiences caused her to be running for her life in Tyven. Its a pretty interesting history. She's a kinda contradictory character as well; I mean she's named after the most beautiful flower in their world yet she is nothing like a flower. She's not still, nor soft. She does not fade away like a flower either. As she gets older, as any elf, she gets more and more beautiful. Still she is very young for an elf. I think she's around 78 when she enters the village in the scene I previously posted. But that is subject to change because I have not mapped Keya out yet.

So those are some of my thoughts on Keya. Now I have to establish Tek which I am not looking forward to. But I don't really have to do that for awhile because its not really important for awhile.

I am going to end with a link: www.grahampictures.com is my photo site so please check out some of my amazing photos.

REVIEW: Krystal Meyers just released some clips from her new album "Make Some Noise" here: http://www.sonybmg.com.tw/intl/krystalmeyers/index.php. I am doing a review of the songs so far. Make Some Noise is interesting yet a little to mainstream to be a favorite of mine 3/5. I think that Love it Away is my favorite so far, its beautiful and it has a good message5/5 . S.O.S is a cool song but kinda bland compared to Love It Away 4/5. Shine is the albums first single, and I don't think that it was a good choice; the song seems to be a fancy beat and rhyming lyrics 3/5. Finally the last song released was My Freedom which is my second favorite; Its very beautiful 5/5. So far I am looking forward to the rest of the album with excitment! Watch out for Krystal Meyers; the CCM Rock Princess has become a great songwriter and will be the next GMA female vocalist!

Someone is calling

My book "The Call" has had its first restart! That is something that I had done 50 times with "The Unaware and I hope that "The Call" doesn't get to out of hand. I have also been writing a lot of random little things (which then instantly get deleted) just for style training! Well enjoy this bit of "The Call"

The forest of Averwood wa a very peaceful lovely place. The trees in the forest grew majestically; reaching mightly to the sky. The plants beautifully grew throughot the forest adding a touch of beauty as mist flowed free amoungst the stong trees. Then the most breautiful feature of the forest sprung in rare places, the Inyakeya flower. This blue flower added to the mysteriousness of the forest. Its wonder, its beauty, and its rarity caused many to wonder how something so wonderful could dwell in world so torn. It ws this flower that Keya was named after.

Inyakeya was her real name. As she glaced across the distance toward the wondrous forest of Averwood, she reflected unpon its beauty. It was a beautiful place, yet she avoided it. No one who ever had dared to venture into the forest had returned. In the decades that had passed Averwood had become a feared place. The Sarths that had once dwelled there left is shrouded in a mystery which drove fear into the hearts of most. No, she would not dare venture there, for she cared little for a land that might breing back memories of the home she lost.

Keya was an elf, a beautiful simple elf. One of the few who dared to venture out of the closed borders of the Elven cities. She had given up her home to help those outside her kingdom. This had cost her everything she had know, yet she was strangely untouched by the loss. Maybe this was just because nothing in her home had ever felt right.

Slowly she pondered her own past as she came over a hill. She was weary and wounded. A large gash through her side had worn her almost to nothing. The bandaging did little to help her. Her travels had been long and a welcome sight loomed her the hill; a village. The land of Tyven was filled with villages such as this one, they were places where humans from the land of Kantra had escaped.

Kantra had long been war torn fighting off the evil of Despreg and fighing with the War-Yies. The kings of Kantra had never been very friendly with the War-Yies but the war with them had become silly and had only left both sides weak and suceptible to Despreg. Most deaperate Kantrans had fled into the deserted Elven lands of Tyven. Keya had fought in Wirlyle and Kantra against the armies of Wirv, in both places she had witnessed extreme pain.

She slowly descende the hill toward the small village. Her hair done in such a way to hide the pointed ears that marked her. There were less than five elves who had dared to enter into the conflicts and they ussually were not trusted.

Keya never doubted that her descision to leave was the right one. There were ways to heal the lands. She knew all the ‘prophecies’ and predictions that had been made and she had yet to find any of them coming true. She had pledged to herself that she would find someone to save the landd if she did not take it all into her own hands.

As she entered the village, she saw many different sorts of people and was glad for the diversity. The village seemed to be one of the more advanced, having a blacksmith, inn, tavern, and assorted shops. She looked for a Hulea where she could purchase something to put on her wound. She felt a wave of diziness sweep over her and she stumbled. She heard a man yell and saw people running to her as she collapsed. Everything began to fade as she fought for waht consiousness she had left. It as all to much and soon her world faded into black.

I have to say that right now I really enjoy writing Keya. When I first created her I was going to introduce her later in the story but I decided to begin with her because I think she is one of the best characters I ever have created. Her beauty, strength, and will to help others has caused me to really enjoy her. She is suppost to be a light in the midst of this story.

The story basically follows Telian, who is a young boy at the beginning of the story. He is called "Tek" by Keya who sees him as the future savior of the world. As time goes on Telian is separated form Keya, who was previously guiding him, and he is forced to face his destiny on his own. With that he watches people around him make mistakes and fall into nothingness as he himself chooses to do the right thing and reunite a broken land. I know that Telian will survive it all but I am not sure what Keya's fate will be. My main characters will all be characters that people will love at the end, not characters that people despise. Therefore they will all be moral and upright.

REVIEW: Prince Caspian. Now that it has been released I can say that I did enjoy this movie. Thought it was not perfect I got exactly what I wanted: Swordfights! Some problems with it were the Rivalry between Peter and Caspian which totally diverted from the book and was absolutely distracting; to the point where you want Edmund to take charge and get rid of the whiny blockheads. Another problem was that the Susan/Caspian romance was rather undeveloped and sudden. They should have done away with it completely or actually developed it. Lucy was brilliant and again stole the film. Edmund the Just was the greatest character there, supporting everyone and being a voice of wisdom. Aslan was beautiful though rather unincluded. The River was just as cool as the book described him. Overall I loved the scale of the film, while it is definatly not Lord of the Rings its better than any movie that I have seen recently. I rate it 4.5/5 stars and look forward to the next one.

A few quick thoughts

Thoughts I found I wrote on some of my papers:

The greatest tests of strength are the ones that cause most to break.

You must understand, holding on to hurts will kill you; allowing what people to say about you to enrage you weakens you; living life in the shadows secludes you; hiding from past regrets will destroy you.

Only one thing is certain: Love.

Those were a few of my unfocused thoughts from Art History. Well anyway, I wanted to post again because of the new movie comeing out on the 16th of this month: The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian! 7 days? It seems like the last one just came out! 7 days? No really! I've seen so may previews for it, I can not wait to see it! Its sure to be full of action and adventure. Being a fan of the book I am wondering what new things they will bring to it!

Where A Land is Darkend

The Prologue currently attached to my new story "The Call." This story I see as way more simple than "The Unaware" and I am using it for training in writing. Well It along with Writing scenes about my new practice charater Alexa, whose battle I just posted.
Well I give you "The Call"

Satrindenad was a dangerous world to live in. Darkness, greif, and anger had filled the land. Humans, Sarths, Elves, and War-Yies alike had tried to live in peace for the sake of their lands, but this peace was one of tolerance; a tolerance that existed for only the means of survival. In this tolerance Humans and War-Yies had drawn thick lines between each other, and the two races bickered without violence; but this was a danger to the land.
In the world a great evil had grown and spread; in a land called Wriv dwelt a dark terror called Despreg who knew nothing of good. He built armies to ravage the peoples of the world not caring who he killed; his only desire was total power over all races. Because of the resistance he encountered he retaliated for a time only to return with greater force. Alliances amoung the races had grown, but these were only words and friendships would not easily be formed. Despreg took advantages of these weaknesses at every turn and soon Elves and Sarths retreated into deep forests and mountains hiding themselves from the evil in fear of being anielated or forced to live as slaves. Because of this the land of Tyven, which was once green with the prosperity of the elves, had become a wild land ift only to harbor the outcasts of other races.
Humans and War-Yies held up resistance but soon the two could agree no longer. A split between the two caused war. Despreg made this war, and both races were two occupied with their own lands to help each other; this only caused them to blame and fight each other rather than the evil.
In the worlds dark hour another race of beings decided to waken hope. The Pyxyes had hidden away in the odd corners of the world for many years but they knew that this new darkness called for them to assist the saving of the world. Amasing their armies thay drove the forces of Despreg, who had all but destroyed the lands of the world, back into Wriv, but they were to late to save any hope of peace between the War-Yies and Humans.
Despreg seemed beated but the Pyxyes knew that this would not last; they had only shooken him and he would return with greater force. They turned to deal with the fights of the War-Yies and Humans cursing them for their hatered. The Pyxyes said that until the humans and the War-Yies could learn how to get along then a chapion who would despel the forces of Wriv from the continent of Sartindenad would never be found. With this curse the Pyxyes fled deep into the secret places of the world and left the broken lands to heal themselves; a task which might take ages to be completed.

You think thats interesting???? No Not really, I wish. We'll see. I love it so far I have a really nice concept for it.

It basically centers around 3 charaters: an elven maiden named Keya (Inaykeyah) who choose to leave the comforts of her people in order to find a way to restore the world. The consequences of her choice is that unless she does an incredibly great deed she can never return.
A small by named Tec (Telian) who was orphaned at birth and knows little of himself or the world around him. He is from a small village and is often shunned because he tends to act differently than most boys his age.
A trader named Jylek who spent his life craving adventure. He keeps himself very secluded from the world, and little is known about his past.

Yeah, thats simple, I think anyway.

I recently wrote a beautiful poem in 15 minutes for my english class I hope I can post it soon!

A Call

Hey everyone, or should I say no one. I don't know why I write these blogs to no one I just feel like having an outlet for my writing.

So today I decided to write a small battle. Now this battle is not from one of my books it was actually sup post to be short, its just something I randomly because I felt like writing a battle that might set a structure for a battle that I will eventually have to write in my book.

Now I am no longer focusing on "The Unaware" for I really want that story to go somewhere great, so I have decided to train myself in character development and writing before I write it. So for that reason I have started to write a book called "The Call" which will take place about 1000 some odd years before "The Unaware." Now "The Call" and "The Unaware" and completely separate stories, and the only link between the is the blue flower necklace which is important in "The Unaware." "The Call" searches out the origins of the flower. Sound Fun Right" Wrong, the result is going to be something pretty horrible, as it will be my first book.

Really sort today but I just wanted to give an update on how my stories are doing.

REVIEW: The TV series Robin Hood from BBC is a wonderful series. I watched Series 1 back when it came out and then I followed the British showings of series 2. I highly recommend the series to anyone who loves medieval movies, or swashbuckling adventures. The show does have some cheesy things to it and it is slightly cliche, but besides that its great. IT IS A MODERNIZATION of Robin Hood, so don't expect everything to look perfectly medieval! But go check it out I love it, its awesome, fun, adventurous, romantic, great!

Freedom

In a quote from Malcolm X, he says that someone who truly believes in freedom must be willing to do “anything under the sun” to gain that freedom or they do not believe in freedom. Not everyone would be willing to do anything to gain self determining freedom. People always have circumstances limiting their will to act to a certain point. Freedom is an ideal that is loved and valued by all yet also denied and with held from many. I disagree with Malcolm X’s statements; for though peoples moral conscience often keeps them from doing anything to gain freedom, it does not keep them from believing in and desiring freedom.

When Malcolm X says “anything” it can be assumed that he means “anything.” Anything, could mean that one could start anarchy. Anything could mean that one would put the lives of those he loved in danger. Anything could mean that one would kill, steal, and destroy. Yes a person could do anything for freedom but weather or not someone will is another matter.

There is always an ideal of what is moral competing with the ideal of freedom. Most people will do almost anything for freedom but there is always a moral conscience in a person preventing them from doing somethings. Just because a person lets this moral conscience divert him from gaining freedom does not mean that the person did not believe in freedom or put the proper value on freedom. Many people would not allow the fight for freedom to bring them to take the life of someone else. If a person valued the life and soul of a man higher than the ideal of freedom it does not mean that they do not believe in freedom; they simply hold the value of life higher. Taking a life is denying that person the right to freedom and life that they deserve; taking a persons life would make a freedom fighters life hypocritical.

If a person lets the desire for freedom, however strong in may be, cause them to loose their moral consciousness then they trade their humanity away for what they see as a higher cause. In Rachel L. Jones’s “The Price of Hate” Jones describes a member of the Ku Klux Klan who had been dehumanized by his hatred of African Americans. If she had just shown him hate back she would have been no better than him. Nothing would stop freedom fighters from becoming inhuman and hateful if they give up their morals to fight their oppressors; freedom would no longer be worth anything if no one had any sense of justice. It may be that the person was driven by justice to fight in the first place but in denying his morals he pollutes his just cause.

In “Black Boy” by Richard Wright the boy looses his innocence. In loosing that innocence he gains violence which will effect him for the rest of his life; he has lost part of his moral conscience. Nothing in him prevents him from resorting to violence in the future when he feels that someone is threatening him. If he had not have resorted to violence he would have not gained freedom, but in using that method to gain freedom he lost part of himself. Not everyone would be willing to dispense with morality even to fight off injustice because in the end the people themselves become just as unjust as those they were fighting. In “Hair” by Malcolm X a boy gives into popular fashion trends and looses part of himself in the process. That is what could happen to a person should they give into their desire to give up morality for freedom. A man is more free if he can control his actions than if he was not discriminated against.

Martian Luther King talks of fighting injustice in his “Letter from Birmingham Jail.” He talks of a “misconception of time” which does not cure all ills. Sometimes it takes intense fighting to gain something like freedom, especially when time is not always an ally. If people did not make moves for freedom it would never come. There were people who did everything they could for freedom, but even they had their limits. They would not let injustice hold them back and they kept themselves from also becoming unjust as a result the freedom that they gained was real.

Freedom is a higher cause indeed. It is desired and cherished by every man and woman. In fighting to gain it everyone has their limits. This does not mean that they do not believe in freedom, for no one could view freedom as a curse, it means that they hold their morality above actions which could gain the freedom. People who desire freedom do not always have the desire to take actions that would cause them to loose themselves nor should they. People will do almost anything under the sun to acquire or preserve their freedom but they will hold to their moral ideals when fighting for their freedom.

Unrest

I just wrote a nice chunk of my book today. I mostly set up the situation of a few charaters. I wrote one of the most beautiful heartwrenching scenes about the aftermath of someones death but sadly it would reveal to much to share with you; but it is sad. Instead of giving you that I have decided to give you something much less revealing. A description piece that takes place after a few of my female characters have a peaceful chat:

The two walked down, laughing and telling stories as girls often do. Their ignorance was untouched. Others who saw them knew that they did not fully understand what was going on in the world. Great unrest had taken over. There was a calm, and many knew that something was stirring in the heart of Kantra. The wind held signs of a power that may set them all free from the evil that gripped their land.
There were tales that soared over the mountains. These tales bore descriptions of the forest of Averwood, it had awakend. Many believed that the Sarths and War-Yies would drive the evil from Kantra, but others held on to hope that a human warrior would come forth.
Adrinera had heard tales of a young woman who led armies into Kantra and ambushed many of the Kings soliders. If their were any survivors all they could say was “she came with fire.” Many Kantran’s were afraid that another evil had arisen and Adrinera hoped that someones foolish actions would not cause her village to suffer.

So there you have a beautiful scene. Besides writing this book I have been very busy. I just got an armature SLR camera; a cannon Rebel. I am now working on improving my camera skills. I am also writing music to go with my book. I have composed several themes one of which is a love theme which I find very beaiutiful and sad as the same time.

Well I will close my blog with a review. I think I'll get in the habit of doing this.

Song: Jaci Velasquez's "A Likely Story" is a beautiful love song which I have been enjoying listening to a lot lately. Its really beautiful from her new album Love Our Loud which is avalible on itunes.

NEW

Besides rearranging my prologue I have written a stunning opening scene to the book. Consequently it is a battle scene which I a quite proud of and I am sure will be thrown out in a couple of months when I restart the book yet again. But I think I will stick with my titles no matter how many times I scratch a rewrite. I can not begin to to tell you how many times characters actions have changed, or their names have changed, or their lineages have changed. I am done with change. Well heres the battle.

The wind that blew around Fyrie was cold, like the air of a frozen mountain. The cold was unusual in the forests near Savgly, yet it felt strangely familiar to all those who hid in the forest. The tree which Fyrie crouched in had ice frozen to its leaves. Though it was almost summer the cold still stung in the evenings.
Fyrie pulled an arrow from her quiver, for it wouldn’t be long now. She head the horses hoofs against the rocky ground and still she stayed steady; waiting patiently to strike. Fifty Sarths filled the trees waiting for her first move, she knew all rested on her timing yet she did not fear. Steady was the blowing of the wind as loose locks of her hair blew in her face. Closer was the sound, the striking, the beat of the hoofs. It would not be long, they would be in sight. She knew they would not fail.
Suddenly she realized it was time she lifted her bow and shot. As she did the arrow lit with fire from inside her and it hit its target. The first officer was down. After that many more arrows flew, fire less and disguised in the night. They all hit their targets, human officers and goblins fell to the ground. Then the battle broke, birds streamed for the trees and took War-Yie form; shooting arrows, throwing spears, and dropping rocks.

-Quick note before I say goodbye; War-Yies are creatures which can take two forms, the first form is that of a bird and the second is a human-like creature with wings. They have keen hearing and amazing strength, plus their ability to turn into birds makes them very camouflaged. Sarths on the other hand are humanish creatures with blue skin, nature like clothes, and grass-like hair.

Well thats the battle, or the beginning of it anyway. I must continue to write it and next time I have something of value to share I will not hesitate in doing so.

-Katherine

One Year

I can not believe its already been a year since I first wrote, I forgot about writing again! Not that anyone was reading it. I have continues writing my book its official title is now called: The Unaware. Its a fantasy story, of course, that has a lot of me as a person put into it. Though progress on it is slow I believe that maybe its something kinda special:

19 years after the fall of the monarchy of Kantra, two young men called Gavalen and Navern seek to restore the true rules of Kantra. These heirs are sought out by the new ruler King Hastherth who desires to destroy them and any other family members. In a race against time Gavalen and Navern find themselves winded up in an older legacy deeper than just the heirs. The two soon have to enlist them help of blacksmiths daughter Adrinera and a mysterious girl name Fyrie (who holds a secret past of her own). Together the four must fight armies, and search in the deep past for the key to save Kantra.

basically theres War, Romance, Tragedy... get it! Probably now sounding to familiar, but Have you heard of Sarths and War-Yies... No. Those are just two of the new humanoid creatures introduced her. So far my first draft is very choppy and bad, I just need to find a way to smooth it out. The second two books will be called: The Unwilling and The Undeserving. The titles tell something about which character they follow, which I didn't realize till after I named them.
I have also written a score to accompany the books, so far its made up of tragic love themes and trouble things.

So thats it for now, write soon
-Kat
